Margarita Drumettes Air Fryer Recipe

A drumette is a fleshy part of the chicken wing, closest to the body. It is meatier than the rest of the wing. It looks very similar to the drumstick in appearance but smaller.It yields a tender and flavorful meat when cooked.

Already flavorful chicken drumettes are marinated with a combination of tequila, lime juice, and orange juice in the recipe below, and turn into a delicious dish. The recipe is to make with drumettes but you can also use chicken wingettes in this recipe if you prefer them.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds chicken drumettes

  • 4 limes, 2 zested and 4 juiced

  • 1 orange, zested and juiced

  • 1 cup silver tequila

  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup

  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper

  • Salt and black pepper to taste

  • Olive oil spray

  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh chives

Directions

  1. Add the chicken drumettes, lime zest, lime juice, orange zest, orange juice, silver tequila, maple syrup, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper into a bowl and mix them.

  2. Cover the bowl and place it in the refrigerator to marinate for 2 hours.

  3. After marinating, preheat the air fryer by selecting the “Chicken” function and adjusting the timer to 3 minutes. Once you press the “Start/Pause” button, it will start warming up.

  4. Remove the marinated chicken drumettes from the refrigerator.

  5. Lightly grease the rotating basket or the regular air fryer basket with olive oil spray.

  6. Put the chicken drumettes into the basket, and mist them with olive oil spray.

  7. Open the air fryer, insert the chicken drumettes in, and close it.

  8. Set the timer to 25 minutes and press the “Start/Pause” button to begin frying.

  9. Cook until the drumettes are golden brown and reach an internal temperature of 165°F.

  10. Once cooked, open the air fryer and transfer the chicken drumettes to a serving platter.

  11. Garnish with chives and serve warm.
