Salmon is one of the easiest types of fish to cook because of its high fat content. When fish has only little fat, you need to follow oily recipes such as deep frying to make fish tasty. However, if you are to make salmon, you just need to put it directly in or on a heat source. You do not even need to marinade it. Fat in salmon will help salmon release all its flavor and make its meat flaky.

The marinade in the recipe below, made with maple, soy sauce, and garlic maple, will enhance the salmon’s already wonderful flavor. It will also give salmon an appetizingly glazing look. Let’s move on to the recipe and see all these come true!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup maple syrup

  • ¼ cup soy sauce

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

  • 8 salmon fillets

  • Olive oil spray

  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Directions

  1. Combine maple syrup, soy sauce, garlic powder, and black pepper in a large zipper bag.

  2. Add salmon filets to the zipper bag and gently massage the bag to make the marinade cover all salmon filets.

  3. Zip the bag and place it in the refrigerator and let the salmon marinate for 30 minutes.

  4. After marinating, preheat the air fryer by selecting the “Fish” function and adjusting the timer to 3 minutes. Once you press the “Start/Pause” button, it will start warming up. If your air fryer does not have a fish function, adjust the temperature to 400°F (205°C).

  5. Grease the basket (or mesh rack depending on your air fryer type) with olive oil spray or line it with parchment paper.

  6. Remove the salmon filets from the zipper bag and arrange them in the basket or on the mesh rack as the skin side is down.

  7. Set the timer to 8 minutes. Once you press the “Start/Pause” button, it will start cooking.

  8. Halfway through cooking, brush salmon filets with some more marinade and continue cooking.

  9. Cook the salmon filets until it is flaky.

  10. Once cooked, open the air fryer and transfer the salmon to a serving plate.

  11. Garnish with sesame seeds.

  12. Enjoy!
