Brussels sprouts are very attractive on grocery store shelves with their cabbage-like appearance. The cute appearance of these tiny cabbages compels you to buy some. However, when Brussels sprouts are taken home and steamed or boiled following the most common recipe for them, most people feel disappointed with the taste and mushy texture. So, people usually decide not to buy them again and resist their tiny and compelling appearance in the grocery store.
However, Brussels sprouts release their best flavors by sautéing or roasting. We share a roasted Brussels sprouts recipe below, leaving sautéing to another recipe. You will love these delicious Brussels sprouts with bacon, caramelized and golden brown on the outside, and tender but not mushy on the inside.
2 pounds Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
Salt and black pepper to taste
1 teaspoon olive oil
4 bacon slices, chopped
Preheat the air fryer by selecting the “Vegetables” function and adjusting the timer to 3 minutes. Once you press the “Start/Pause” button, it will begin warming up.
Combine Brussels sprouts, salt, black pepper and olive oil in a bowl.
Add Brussels sprouts and bacon to the rotating basket if your air fryer has one. Otherwise, add them on the tray or in the basket if your air fryer is basket type.
Open the air fryer, place the rotating basket in and close it.
Set the timer to 20 minutes and press the “Start/Pause” button to begin roasting.
Cook Brussels sprouts until they are golden brown and tender. You can check their tenderness by sticking a fork.
Open the air fryer, remove the basket and transfer Brussels sprouts with bacon to a serving platter.
RECIPE NOTE FOR ROASTED BRUSSELS SPROUTS:
