Is a quiche and a frittata the same?

No, they are not the same even though both dishes are egg-based and have other similar ingredients. Quiche is cooked over a pie crust while frittata is crustless. The fact that quiche has a crust below makes it more stable and this leads to the second difference that a quiche can be made more creamy than frittata. Quiche recipes have more amounts of dairy such as sour cream, crème fraîche, milk etc. In other words, a frittata is more of an egg dish than quiche is due to the difference in egg-to-dairy ratio.

Quiche and frittata also differ in cooking methods. Quiche is baked in the oven whereas frittata is usually cooked on the stove even though it can also be made in the oven. Even though both dishes are easy to make, quiche requires more labor than frittata. Cooking time of quiche is longer than frittata as well.

Can I freeze frittata?

Yes, you can freeze frittata in an airtight container. However, frozen frittata does not taste so well as they do when freshly made. It does not retain its flavor and texture. So, consuming it preferably the very first day you make it, or within 3-5 days is better. You can store frittata within an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.
