Should I soak raisins in water before adding them to cookie batter?

If you prefer a soft feeling while eating the raisins in a cookie, then you should soak the raisins in water for a while before adding them to cookie batter. To do so, place the raisins in a bowl and pour boiling water on them. They will be soft within minutes. If you pour cold water the softening will take a couple of hours depending on the size of the raisins.

What kind of raisins are best for baking cookies?

Black raisin with its more flavorful taste and golden raisin with its fruitier taste and soft texture are the most preferred ones. However, all types of raisins can be used for baking cookies depending on one's palate.
