Its basic ingredients are espresso, ice, and milk. Then, whipped cream, different syrups, or sweeteners can be added to it depending on personal preference.

You can buy different variations of frappuccino at Starbucks or bottled ones from grocery stores, vending machines, etc. You can also find frappuccino in other cafés or stores but, of course, under a different name since Starbucks has trademarked the name frappuccino. Now we will learn how to make frappuccino at home with the recipe below. Making it at home will allow you to create your own version of it.

Frappuccino is originally made with espresso, but if you do not have an espresso machine at home, you can alternatively use a Moka pot or AeroPress to prepare the coffee for the frappuccino. If you do not have any of those tools to make coffee with pressurized water, then just add some instant coffee, two teaspoons per glass.

  • 2 cups ice cubes

  • 1 cup (3 fl.oz.) espresso, Moka pot, or AeroPress coffee (or 4 teaspoons instant coffee)

  • 2 cups cold milk (full-fat yields a better taste and texture)

  • Sweetener of your choice (optional)

  • Whipped cream, chocolate or caramel sauce (optional)

  • Ice crushing blender

  • 2 tall glasses


  1. Make the coffee.

  2. Add ice cubes, milk, sweetener, and coffee to the blender and blend them well. As mentioned in the recipe note below, you can add 1 cup of strawberries or raspberries for a fresh frappuccino taste or a banana for a sweeter taste and thicker texture at this stage.

  3. Pour the mixture into the glasses.

  4. Add whipped cream and chocolate or caramel sauce over it.

  5. Serve the frappuccino immediately before it has time to get melted.
