What is medium-chain triglyceride (MCT)?
Medium-chain triglycerides are fats produced in the lab from natural oil sources like coconut and palm kernel. Regular oils like olive oil have long-chain fatty acids, while MCTs have medium-chain fatty acids that contain 6-12 carbon atoms.
Where can I buy bulletproof coffee?

Bulletproof coffee is a coffee drink concocted by the creator of Bulletproof Diet, Dave Asprey. It is made with coffee, butter, and medium-chain triglyceride (MCT) as a fatty alternative to a carb-laden breakfast. Its fatty content makes you feel full sooner and longer. In contrast, carb-laden breakfasts make you hungry and crave another sweet very soon.
Bulletproof coffee is also called butter coffee, keto coffee, and fatty coffee. It is suitable for low-carb, ketogenic, and paleo diets. Bulletproof coffee is an alternative to a high-carb breakfast that includes some bakery and coffee. Still, it is not an alternative to a healthy breakfast with protein and other nutrients. That is because its nutrient content is low despite providing healthy fat.
There needs to be more study about its long-term effects. It is high in saturated fat content, and drinking a fatty coffee every morning may have some negative effects, especially on cholesterol levels and cardiovascular health. So, it might be better to limit bulletproof coffee consumption to 2 to 3 times a week and create other low-carb alternatives for breakfast in the remaining days.
On the other hand, bulletproof coffee is a very delicious coffee to taste. It is creamier and more flavorful than regular coffee. Besides three original ingredients mentioned above, you can also add some salt and ground cinnamon to it for more flavor.
Now let’s move on to the recipe below and make a bulletproof coffee, either for a keto diet or for an occasional enjoyment!
1 cup brewed coffee, hot
1 tablespoon unsalted butter or ghee
1 tablespoon MCT oil
A pinch of pink salt (optional)
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
1 teaspoon cocoa powder (optional)
Combine all the ingredients in a blender and blend them for 5-10 minutes until smooth and frothy.
Your bulletproof coffee is ready as soon as you pour the frothy mixture into a coffee mug.
Serve and enjoy!
HOW TO SERVE BULLETPROOF COFFEE:
Bulletproof coffee is served in a regular coffee mug. A glass coffee mug would be better to enjoy its color. You can sprinkle some ground cinnamon or cocoa powder over its foam.
