Can I add other fruits to make tropical jam?

Yes. You can add some other fruits to make tropical jam depending on your palate taste. Plums and cranberries go well in tropical jam. They are high in pectin so help jam thicken faster as well.

Mango, pineapple, and raspberries blend perfectly in this tropical mix fruit jam and leaves an unforgettable taste in the mouth. Tropical jam serves as a flavourful complement to a peanut butter sandwich or a buttered toast in the morning. In addition, tropical jam can be used as a topping to make a quick tart.

Making jam on the stove is tiring and needs long minutes of stirring with the risk of scald. However, if you are to make jam in a bread maker, it is so easy that you are only required to put the ingredients into the bread pan and let the bread maker do the job, as it is so in this recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup peeled and diced mango

  • 1 cup diced pineapple

  • 1 cup raspberries

  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 1 tablespoon lemon Juice

  • 1 teaspoon pectin

Directions

  1. Open the top lid of the bread maker and remove the bread pan from the machine by pulling it upward.

  2. Make sure the bread pan is clean and both kneading paddles are in place.

  3. Add the mango, pineapple and raspberries in a large bowl and mash them roughly with a fork. You can also quickly puree them in a blender if you want a smoother jam.

  4. Pour the mashed fruit into the bread pan and add the remaining ingredients as well.

  5. Put the bread pan back in the bread machine by pressing it down so that it clicks into its place, and close the lid.

  6. Plug the bread machine into an outlet and press the "Power" button to turn the machine on.

  7. Use the "Program" button to select the program #9 for the jam cycle.

  8. Press the "Start" button to start the jam making cycle.

  9. Your machine will let you know by making a beep sound once the tropical jam is done. Open the bread machine at this point and remove the bread pan using a pot holder.

  10. Transfer the jam into 2 sterilized 8-ounce jars and close the lids while the jam is still hot. You can close the jar’s lid after the jam cools down if you’d like to eat it soon.

  11. Enjoy tropical jam!
