Can I use whole wheat flour instead of white flour to make almond and raisin bread?

Yes, but whole wheat flour yields a denser loaf, so you may prefer using 3⁄4 of the amount of white flour in the recipe. You will find the best amount that works perfectly by experience.

Are nuts healthy for the body?

Yes, nuts are very healthy for the body. They are a good source of protein and contain healthy unsaturated fats. They lower bad cholesterol levels. Nuts also take time to get digested and keep you full for a long time.

  • 1¾ cups water (at room temperature)

  • 4 tablespoons honey

  • 4 tablespoons olive oil

  • 3½ cups bread flour

  • 1½ cups rolled oats

  • 2½ teaspoons salt

  • 1¾ teaspoons ground cinnamon

  • 2¼ teaspoons instant dry yeast

  • ¾ cup golden raisins (add after the nut icon)

  • ¾ cup chopped almonds (add after the nut icon)

  • Loaf size: 3 pounds (1500 grams)
  • 2 cups water (at room temperature)

  • 5 tablespoons honey

  • 5 tablespoons olive oil

  • 4 cups bread flour

  • 2 cups rolled oats

  • 3 teaspoons salt

  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

  • 2½ teaspoons instant dry yeast

  • 1 cup golden raisins (add after the nut icon)

  • 1 cup chopped almonds (add after the nut icon)

Directions

  1. Open the lid of the bread maker and remove the pan from the machine by pulling it upward.

  2. Make sure the pan is clean and both kneading paddles are in place.

  3. Add all of the ingredients to the bread pan in the order listed except the raisins and almonds. You may prefer to add raisins and almonds either at this point or you can wait until your bread maker warns you to add nuts. Some bread makers have this function to add nut-like ingredients to the dough after kneading.

  4. Put the bread pan back in the bread machine, pressing it down so that it clicks into its place, and close the lid.

  5. Plug the bread machine into an outlet and press the “Power” button to turn the machine on.

  6. Use the “Program” button to select program #1 for the basic cycle.

  7. Press the “Color” button to choose your desired crust color.

  8. Press the “Size” button to choose the weight of the loaf you are making. The time display will also change as you select the size of the bread since larger loaves take longer to cook.

  9. Press the “Start” button to start the bread-making cycle.

  10. The machine will let you know by making a beep sound once the bread-making cycle is finished. Open the lid at this time and remove the bread pan out by using a pot holder.

  11. If you do not remove the loaf immediately, the bread machine will automatically go into a warming cycle to keep the bread warm for one hour.

  12. After taking the bread pan out of the machine, flip the pan over and gently tap it to remove the bread. Make sure the kneading paddles are taken out of the bread loaf.

  13. Your almond and raisin bread is ready.

  14. Slice it and enjoy!

  • RECIPE NOTES FOR ALMOND & RAISIN BREAD:

If you like, you can also add ground ginger to this recipe in the same amount as cinnamon.

You can use other nuts in this recipe such as walnut, pecan, hazelnut, cashew, and pistachio. You can use these nuts on their own or several of them together in the recipe. By the way, I highly recommend you try this recipe with pistachio and golden raisins. It will taste just delicious.

HOW TO STORE ALMOND & RAISIN BREAD:

You can store almond and raisin bread slices in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, and in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
