As mentioned in the air fryer cauliflower steaks recipe before, cauliflower is a very healthy vegetable. It is a fibrous and low carb food with great health benefits for the immune system and overall body. So, it is important to find easy and tasty recipes to add cauliflower to the menu.
Making cauliflower bites in the air fryer yields a crispy outside and tender inside as if it is deep fried. But air frying a food is so much easier than deep frying and does not create any grease splatter mess in the kitchen. And, if the accessories of your air fryer are dishwasher safe as well, you have almost no cleaning job at the end while enjoying delicious fried food.
The spicy cauliflower bites recipe below provides small, bite-sized cauliflowers that are very delicious, very easy to make and very healthy. When you look for a healthy alternative to French fries and chips, or a vegetarian alternative to chicken nuggets and wings, the following recipe will be your savior.
1 head cauliflower, cut into florets
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 tablespoons butter, melted
½ cup hot sauce
½ cup almond flour
½ tablespoon garlic powder
3 tablespoons dried parsley
Salt and black pepper to taste
Olive oil spray
Preheat the air fryer by selecting the “Vegetables” function and adjusting the timer to 3 minutes. Once you press the “Start/Pause” button, it will start warming up. If your air fryer does not have a vegetable specific function, adjust the temperature to 390°F (200°C).
Add cauliflower bites, olive oil, butter, hot sauce, almond flour, garlic powder, parsley, salt and black pepper into a bowl and mix well.
Open the air fryer and lightly grease the basket with olive oil spray.
Spread the cauliflower nuggets into the basket and lightly mist them with olive oil spray.
Set the timer to 15 minutes. Once you press the “Start/Pause” button, it will start frying.
Shake the basket a few times during the cooking process.
Cook cauliflower nuggets until they are golden brown and tender.
Open the air fryer and remove the cauliflower bites onto a serving platter.
Serve them with your favorite dipping sauce.
Enjoy the air fryer cauliflower bites with your loved ones!
How to cut cauliflower into florets:
To cut cauliflower into florets, first cut the cauliflower into 4 quarters, then remove the core by diagonally cutting it out from each quarter, and finally break the pieces into florets by hand. Make sure that the size of florets are similar to be able to cook them evenly. You can cut big florets in half to do so.
If you have cauliflower pieces on the counter after preparing the florets, you can eat them raw, adding to a green salad, especially to the one made with baby spinach leaves.
How to store cauliflower bites:
You can store leftover cauliflower bites in the fridge for 3-5 days covering them with an airtight container. Before putting them in an airtight container, make sure that they are completely cool down. Otherwise they will get soggy.
You can also freeze them to consume much later.
How to reheat cauliflower bites:
Just put the refrigerated cauliflower nuggets in the air fryer preheated to 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 2-4 minutes, and the freezed ones for 4-6 minutes without thawing.
