Pumpkin fries are a nutritious, healthy low-carb side dish with a crispy outside, and tender inside similar to French fries.

Only drawback in making pumpkin fries would be cutting the pumpkin since pumpkin is really hard to cut. However, at least you do not need to peel the pumpkin in this recipe because its skin can be eaten and does not spoil the taste and texture of the fries. Additionally, making pumpkin fries will be very easy since they are going to be fried in the air fryer.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound pumpkin

  • ¼ teaspoon chili powder

  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder

  • ¼ teaspoon cumin powder

  • Salt and black pepper to taste

  • ½ teaspoon olive oil

Directions

  1. Preheat the air fryer by selecting the “Vegetables” function and setting the timer to 3 minutes. Once you press the “Start/Pause” button, it will start warming up.

  2. Cut the pumpkin into wedges, peel the wedges if you’d like, and then cut ½-inch thick strips from them.

  3. Add pumpkin strips, chili powder, garlic powder, cumin powder, salt, black pepper, and olive oil into a bowl and mix them.

  4. Open the air fryer, put the pumpkin strips into the basket, and close the air fryer.

  5. Set the timer to 8 minutes and press the “Start/Pause” button to start frying.

  6. Fry pumpkin strips until they are light brown, shaking the basket halfway through cooking.

  7. Once cooked, open the air fryer, and transfer the pumpkin fries onto a serving platter.
