Simple Salt and Pepper Roast Chicken Air Fryer Recipe
Tags: Roast air fryer chicken, simple chicken recipe
Making a roast chicken is not a difficult job but it requires a lot of time when made in the oven and what is worse is that the result is not always guaranteed. Sometimes, people try to boil the whole chicken in a pressure cooker or instant pot before roasting with a wish to ensure a tender and juicy meat at the end but this method adds some stew texture and decreases the roast chicken pleasure.
Air fryers, on the other hand, are very useful in making a whole roast chicken. The hot air circulation in the air fryer guarantees a well cooked, tender and juicy texture in a shorter time. While you need 90 to 120 minutes to roast a whole chicken in the oven, air fryers will do the same job in 60 minutes at most and you will never need to boil the chicken.
So, let’s let the recipe talk!
1 whole chicken (2 pounds)
1 tablespoon olive oil
Salt and black pepper to taste
1 or 2 tablespoons garlic powder (optional)
Rub all over the chicken including cavity with olive oil, salt, black pepper and garlic powder and let it sit at room temperature for 10 minutes to absorb flavors.
Preheat the air fryer by selecting the "Chicken" function and adjusting the timer to 3 minutes. Once you start the "Start/Pause" button, it will begin warming up.
Open the air fryer and put the chicken in the basket and close it.
Adjust the timer to 30 minutes. Once you press the "Start/Pause" button, it will start cooking.
Flip the chicken after 20 minutes and continue cooking until the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°F and the outside turns golden brown all around.
Open the air fryer and remove the chicken onto a chopping board.
Let it rest for 10 minutes before carving.
Serve it warm.
Enjoy your chicken with healthy side dishes!
If your air fryer has a rotisserie function, you can also use it to make this recipe. To do so, just follow the steps in your air fryer's user manual.
